Branding…sort of….

Filed under: Creative Offerings — Rebecca @ 10:43 pm

I’ve been wrestling for a while with how to include my contact information in my packaging. I’ve considered business cards, which are too big for the boxes I use. I’ve considered developing business cards that can be folded in half and contain useful information, but creating the copy has been a nightmare.

Today, the solution finally hit me!

I am going to put return address labels in the lids of the boxes. They’re slim, elegant, and completely customizable to include the business name, tagline, website, and email address.

The first pieces to go out in the newly marked boxes will be a set of pieces being donated to a breast cancer awareness auction next month.

I’m so excited!!

A flood of design

Filed under: Creative Offerings — Rebecca @ 11:17 pm

After a week of designer’s block, I now find myself without enough hours in the day to work on everything I want to create.

Never fear, I’m still going steadily. There will be some cute pieces available to become Christmas presents soon!

I also have had another bit of good luck. A friend has arranged for me to talk with her boss about contributing some pieces for an auction to raise money for Breast Cancer research/awareness. It’d be great publicity for the business, and it would support one of my favorite causes (that sounded a little odd).

Things are definitely going better around Rebecca Thomas Designs!

(Rebecca, however, isn’t doing so well. It didn’t occur to her until an email from home last night that most of her family lives somewhere along the American coast. Please think warm, safe thoughts for her family and friends on the Texas coast.)

Fall is like springtime around here

Filed under: Creative Offerings — Rebecca @ 8:41 am

This week is rapidly becoming all about design. New jewelry designs…new site designs (yep, tackling both sites at the same time)…even some thoughts on my writing.

Many people are completely energized by the spring. Me? I’m completely energized by autumn! I always have been! The first crisp, cool breeze against my face. Bundling up in a light jacket. Knowing that soon, it will be dark more than it will be light (I’m a stargazer). When I’m somewhere that experiences the phenomenon, I really enjoy watching the leaves change colors. There’s a tree not too far from my bedroom window that changed earlier this month. It looks permanently sun-kissed now and really brightens the cloudy Northwest days.

Anyway…time to get back to my designing!

To Beadie or not to Beadie

Filed under: Creative Offerings — Rebecca @ 10:45 pm

I used to love making Beadies (designs, mostly animals originally) from pony beads. Somewhere, I have a notebook full of every beadie pattern Westrim Crafts ever designed.

Last week as I was drawing up plans for things to make this week, I thought back to the fun of Beadies and thought they’d be fun to make in 6/0 beads as dangle for keychains.

This morning, I experimented with the idea a bit. I made a fairy! It took over two hours, and the wire and beads were not as cooperative as they could have been.

Scratch one idea form the future endeavors list (for now). I’ll keep looking for a good solution to the problem, and maybe one day there will be Beadie pieces available!
